Lisbon, this romantic city with an incredible historical and cultural heritage, this tourist city appreciated by all will never cease to surprise us!

I visited Lisbon in August with my wife and we lived just behind the triumphal arch of the Trade Square in one of the best hostels in Lisbon at "Travelers house" which is located at Augusta Street, a busy street all day long and at the other end overlooks Piazza Rossio, a large square with several shops and restaurants.

I advise you to live in this area or nearby because it is also very well served by common transport!

For a short visit to Lisbon, I share with you the must do by offering a small circuit conceived by district to facilitate the discovery of this fantastic city !

ALFAMA: The old district of Aflama authentic district

I suggest you to start with the Sao Jorge Castle, a beautiful castle that offers one of the most beautiful views over Lisbon and for more fun you have to walk there, you will certainly be charmed by the ancient architecture and the narrow streets of Alfama.

In the same area you can also visit the Viewpoint Sophia Mello Breyner Andresen and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view while sipping a coffee on this beautiful terrace.

You can also visit the Sé Cathedral, one of the oldest monuments of the city, originally built in the 12th century, followed by a stroll at the Feira da Ladra Flea Market in the streets of Campo de Santa Clara next door to the National Pantheon.

And if you are a fan of everuthing that is unusual, I advise you to take a ride in "Go Car"! Do not hesitate to take the Tram 28 which offers a very interesting line to discover the city in a unique way by taking sharp turns and slopes that will make you turn your head.

Chiado and Bairro Alto: Two neighborhoods that complement each other

The neighborhoods of Bairro Alto and Chiado are right next to each other, besides visiting one you will surely fall on the other.

Bairro Alto

The Bairro Alto is the center of Lisbon's nightlife, so it is the trendy and lively district where you have to be at night, restaurants and bars galore and besides, all the drinks are offered at very good prices which will certainly prolong your evenings! I advise you not to go during the day because apart from a few restaurants there is not much to do. By cons, just after taking your breakfast you can go to the Miradouro de São Pedro Alcântara to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view, for me the most beautiful view of the city.

You can get there by taking a tram or walk on a long slope. Arrived at Viewpoint you can rest on one of the benches and enjoy the moment.

Chiado

Chiado is a tourist area full of life, full of cafes of which more known is the one of "A Brasileira" that dates from 1905. You will also find shops and plenty of places to eat or drink.

Belem's visit

As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Monastaire dos Jeronimos is a monumental tribute to the wealth of Portuguese discoveries around the world. From the Monastery you can also see the tower of Belém which was built at the port to keep the entrance to the port of Lisbon.

During your trip to Belem, I advise you to go to the cafe Pasteis de Belem to taste the best traditional pasteis, the typical pastry of the country.

At the port of Belem you can also rent a boat and take a 30-minute ride on the Tagus River and observe the Sanctuary of Christ the King and the large bridge on April 25 the first suspended bridge over the Tagus.

Other activities 30min from commerce place

Go to the Nations Parc and admire urban art and ultra modern architecture. It is also there that you will find one of the most beautiful aquarium in the world "The Lisbon Oceanarium" the favorite activity of tourists, you can also take a ride on the cable car and relax in the Vasco da Gama shopping center.

There are of course plenty of other things to do and visit in Lisbon! Feel free to share this article if you liked it and to suggest other things to do in comments!
